on map 65 v1 gives a slight advantage to the first and second players ... can take the slightly protected ends of the map.

Also ... poor stargate hates V1. Sad

So I think either 65 original or V2 or a different map V1 (I actually like V1 best as well).

I'm with stargate, I HATE V1.

I'd prefer none or 2. and 5 games at once.

Oh and IN!

If you wanted to get really wild and crazy, have 5 different maps, so that your 5 prelim games are with different people and a different map each time Smile

PS - and 2 standard games, 1 V1 game, 1 V2 game, and 1 V1+V2 game, lol.

I was actually thinking of this; more variety = more fun.

But that actually makes TWO V1 games. BOOO!

The key to variant 1 is to understand the money making and scoring rule differences. They aren't difficult, just different.

I was going to limit it to 16, but the first hitch I have found is that I can't devise the perfect 16 player round robin where everyone gets to play eachother once. If someone else can do it, please let me know! Within the limitations of my reasoning abilities, I don't think it can be done.

I'm sure someone will be along to prove me wrong, but I think you can only do this with odd-numbered squares (ie, 9 players, 25 players etc).
I assume you have an algorithm for the 25-player tournament. If not, just shout.

OK, if nobody wants to prove me wrong, I'll do it myself... Very Happy
Here is one solution for a 16-player tourney. There may be others.

R1: abcd efgh ijkl mnop
R2: aeim bfjn cgko dhlp
R3: afkp belo chin dgjm
R4: agln bhkm cejp dfio
R5: ahjo bgip cflm dekn

I've triple-checked it, and I can't spot the error...

The 4-p tournament got upgraded to a 5-p and is already under way.
However, keep watching the forums as there may be another one along later... Smile
