|
|
I was playing a game where I had two identiical power cards (They happened to be the Upper/Lower Egypt bonus)...at the scoring round, I was only allowed to play one, despite the 2nd one being highlighted, as if I could play it.
Is there a rule that says you can't play two of the same power card at once, or is this a programming bug/glitch. (If so, the game # 34689)
As it happened, it didn't impact the outcome.. but I'd like to know for next time. |

It's a feature, not a bug. See here:
"A player can never play 2 or more of the same Power Card in the same round."
I got stung by that in one of my first games, too. Nothing to do for it but use the extras to offer or sell. |

And glad I am of that feature. Power cards represent the chance element of the game and my luck is horrible I would prefer to limit it even further, or, perhaps, turn power cards face up and have players bid for them. Whoa, that could be a cool variant....... |

I agree with you... the bidding for power cards would be a cool variant. Any idea on how to balance it with the economy of the game?
Maybe bid for powercards like bidding for terrains. 5 power cards on the table and the same bid process.
Also allow people to choose from a pool of face up cards after offering to Amun Re. Replenish a card after one is chosen.
Maybe allow for the random factor anyway by allowing people to take the face down card.
Ideas? |

I may be speaking out of turn (not that that's ever stopped me before..) but I believe the philosophy here is to code the games so they work according to the official rules. House variants are declined as this can potentially open up a whole crate-load of 'cool ideas' that people want coded, not to mention providing confusion as to which variant is which. The only exception, I believe, are the Hacienda maps which it could be argued, aren't rules variants.
i think if you want to experiment with house rules, your best bet is with your Real Life games group. We would be interested to know how that goes, but don't expect to see it coded here.
Thinking about that for a second, you might even be better having this conversation at BGG, where it might reach a wider audience and receive more feedback.
I could be wrong... |
