Hi! I was interested in how to go about acquiring a password to get into a game? It seems that almost all games created these days are asking for that. Thanks!

You can send a private message to the game creator. Use the "Find a User" link above. Or you can simply start your own game. If you password it you can post the password here or on boardgamegeek. You can also open up a non-passworded game and it usually will fill up very quickly.

The passworded games usually take longer to fill up, so there are a lot more of them on the list. As a SBW newbie I got a bit frustrated with that as well, and started creating open games myself. That way you can find people you enjoy playing with and can play passworded games with them.

Spot on.
To a newbie it can seem that this site is a closed shop, because almost all the games are passworded. In fact it's because the non-passworded games fill up very quickly. Start your own non-passworded games and watch them fill up before your eyes!

As an aside, I would be interested if there were stats available for the percentage of games which are passworded?
I'd be willing to bet it's less than 50%.
