My best friend’s son is in his mid-thirties and has lived with developmental disabilities his whole life. Until now, she managed everything on her own, but it’s getting harder with age, and she’s worried about his future. They’ve never been part of any formal program, but now she’s open to finding structured support where he can socialize, learn, and just have a place to go during the day. Does anyone know of any certified centers in New York that focus specifically on adult care? |

Absolutely — my cousin was in a similar situation. They didn’t know where to start, but once they discovered office for people with developmental disabilities, they found options that were actually meaningful and respectful. Gateway Counseling Center was the one they ended up choosing. What impressed us most was that it’s not just supervision — it’s a place where people develop real skills, build friendships, and participate in daily activities. Their program is fully certified by state authorities, so it meets all necessary standards for quality and safety. It was honestly a game-changer for the whole family. |
