When are they going to fix the problem of unwanted farmers? There have been enough posts about the problem about getting stuck with farmers when you misclick. For the 1 millionth time there, "you should be able to go back a step if you clicked on buying farmers when you didn't want any."
This is the 3rd game completely trashed in the last round because I thought I was buying building stones when It turned out to be farmers.

That will be, never, or a long long time, to answer your question. I think I've made this mistake once or twice in over 50 games or more, and that was probably both in my first 10. It's not like it doesn't make it clear. |

I must be an old geezer, but back in my day, people had the patience to read about 10 words of material before clicking. They aren't kidding when they talk about what the internet is doing to kids(*) these days.

I agree its a huge problem, its bit me several times.
The first issue is mainly that it looks identical to the buying phase, and so the instinct is to automatically click on 'buying' two powercards. When of course you needed bricks.
And then if you get through that, then you are very used to it asking about bricks next (since you often dont have open farmer slots). So you click the maximum number ... and it was asking about farmers.
They need a new interface for taking rewards, that has a selector for each of the three items. THis would be very clear and you wouldnt mess it up. |

The farmer thing has also happened to me a couple times (and I've seen it happen to others), NOT because I can't read, but because after I buy power cards I sometimes sit down to contemplate my position this turn and what I'm doing (I play in several games at once so I often need to take a minute to put myself back in the mental context of the game)
Usually my thoughts are about how many stones I'm going to buy, and once I turn my attention back to the prompt I forget that I need to buy farmers first. Obviously, having this happen to me a couple times traumatized me enough that I've developed a habit of double-checking first.
It can't hurt to include a confirmation feature. It seems to be an issue for a non-trivial # of people. |

It might be nice if Amun Re had a confirmation -- not after the farmer build, but after both the farmer and brick builds (which would allow you to go back to the point right after power cards, if any, were drawn). That would make Amun Re more like the Tikal game -- with a final check at the end. That would make more sense to me than a "Did you really mean that?" inquiry after each step (which would be annoying and lead some to always click "Yes" without thinking about it). |

The way it should work is you click "Add Farmer" and/or "Add Stone" right in the province where you want to put them and there's counter on the side saying "You added 2 farmers for 3 gold and 4 stones for 10 gold." And there's a button where ever this display is where you "finish" your turn. Newly added farmers and stones would be outlined in red (or something) and there would be a little x next to them so you could remove them.
Someday, I will code this for own amun re server. I don't know what decade I'll finish it. But I will... |

I think we're overlooking the fact here that Knave has fleas. |

Ignore the fact that there are two separate discussions happening here: one is about mistakenly buying farmers instead of bricks, the other is about mistakenly taking farmers as rewards instead of bricks.
The reality is that yes, there are other ways of doing things. This is the way it is, and until they change it, get used to reading first. Mistakes are the penalty we pay (and I made this mistake myself not long ago, so I include myself) for not taking half a moment to double check. I agree it would be nice if we didn't have to, but we do. Complaints are fine, but getting vitriolic over it?
It's just a game (one I greatly enjoy playing). I'll save the angst for better things. |

I agree with you, Laurion, it's only a game.
Anyway, it would be very nice if the admin decided to make little changes in the interactive interface to minimize those potential sources of mistakes, mainly in the buying phase.
With respect to Alexfrog's proposal of let the player pick his rewarding items in some kind of menu, all at a time, I think it could not be possible to do it in only one step, since sometimes the power cards you receive may condition how you want to use rest of the rewards. So at least 2 steps would be needed: first take cards, second (if appropiate) farmers+bricks. Anyway, it would be a good improvement. |
