Put me in the category of not really caring about the speed of games. I'm in so many PBEM games, that even if they moved instantly, I'd have to remind myself of the game state...so one hour or one week is exactly the same. When I have a plan I really want to remember I make use of the notes section to remind myself of it. |

I also don't really care. At the end of the day, I play games for entertainment. If I don't have enough games to entertain myself, I play more. Also, while I understand the frustration that certain players on the site cause, I see many more players who are fun to play with (and quite skilled). I prefer to ignore (and occasionally castigate ) the bad sportsmanship players and focus on the many cool folk on this site. So, I suppose we need a "mean person" filter. Milksheikh, why don't you get on that? You could put a bow on it and sell it to other sites for a lot of money. Until then, Gad, you rock and your tournaments are well run with and even (and firm) hand. I know, because I have been on the receiving end of that firmness (in the fast tournaments). And I am not complaining about it. |

As far as tournaments go, I'm happy with things the way they are. I like to play, but I also like having a life. Again, if my games aren't fast enough, I join more. If I want REALLY quick turnaround, I join an RT game.
However, Knave -- can we be honest about human nature? If you wave the big red flag at a bull, don't be surprised when he charges.
I don't recall reading any "Yay! Quitters!" responses either. What I read was "It happens. And it says right there that people can ignore your prereqs. Sorry, that's the way it is." The idea being, we don't have the time and wherewithall to enforce this stuff. Feel free to make your own site and enforce it how you like, if it's that important to you.
By the way, can I propose a solution for that? There's a thread for RT games, where people who want games send out the deets. Now they generally announce the password up front, but you could easily start a thread for "Fast games only", and ask people to mail you if interested. You only send the password to people you approve. |

Things are fine as they are for the tournaments.
A while ago a few of us ran a series of games using the password "speedy". Posted about them in the forums, and asked that only players with an average turn time of less than ?4 hours joined. That worked well, and meant I didn't feel the need to complain publically about the issues Knave raises.
After a while I found I didn't care much about the pace of the games anymore so stopped running them. |

My issue relates to slow play in I don't understand why someone would join a game a then almost immediately go on vacation. If you know your going to be away, why would you join an open game? The person in question i brought this up too didn't think it was a big deal since he immediately posted he would be away when the game started. Why inconvenience everyone else? And again, if you know your going to be unavailable, why are you joining new games?
