Has anyone ever played speed chess? There is a total elapsed time limit that adds a completely new dimension to the game. Any interest in seeing this in Amun Re? If so, any ideas on how to manage the time element? The gamelog would seem to be one obvious tool (say one minute per move). I would be willing to wrestle with this but would like the support of the other experienced tournament coordinators. |

How many people can get together to play live like that?
You could just implement a time penalty. Amun Re has 6 rounds with 4 actions plus 2 scoring actions. So you are on the clock 26 times per game. So you pick a speed 30 sec? 1 min? And then if you are over the clock time you get a point penalty for each speed unit you are over. Simple example: If you take 30 minutes in a 1 min/turn game, you get a 4 point penalty.
If you were to do this you should have a gamelog reader online that can read the gamelog and tell you the current clock time for each player. This should be a web application that you enter the game number and it goes out and grabs the gamelog. Lists the players by name and tell you how much time is used by each player. |

Rseulow recently parsed gamelog information in the 4-player amun re tournament, (though he never posted final stats, which makes me sad). He would certainly be able to do what you have asked for in the above post. |

It wouldn't be hard code to write. I'm just saying if there is a clock you need to provide some means for the players to see it. And then provide a link in the "messages" section. |
