				|
 |
				| Is there any interest in ladders, which would function as mini-leagues?
One game at a time (3 altogether, if you join the 3-ladder, 4-ladder, and 5-ladder.) First place advances to the next table for the next round, last place is relegated one table down.

For players who are in the leagues, this could be a light supplement that wouldn't add too many games to their list. For players like me, who only want a few games at a time, it gives us a chance to play in organized competition devoting less time per day.

The time control would be to rarely go more than 25 hours without making your move, and to play more quickly when possible.

I volunteer to run them, unless Gladitus wants to add this to his stable.

Sign up, express interest, or leave any other comments below.

I hereby sign up for the 3-ladder, the 4-ladder, and the 5-ladder, assuming they come into existence.

				| I'll join the 4 and 5 ladders, although I'm really not sure how ladders work. | |

I am happy not to be involved with the running of these, but please sign me up to play in them.

				| Ladders are an old chess club thing. Everybody is assigned a table, from 1 to whatever, with two players per table. Every week, you play the other person at your current table. If you win, you move up a table for the next week (unless you're already at Table 1.) If you lose, you move down a table (unless you're already at the bottom). If you draw, the standard way is Black moves up while White moves down, but there are other ways of handling things if adjacent tables draw.
I think I'll aim for closing registration on the 17th. Let's keep this thread, which will include general discussion, as the place to register for now. Next Saturday (the 13th) I'll start a new registration-only thread with a list of those who've already registered.

 So far, we have

3-Ladder: Dvd Avins; Deden; Gaditus; Haimke; mikemanley; yoseph

4-Ladder: Dvd Avins; Deden; Gaditus; Haimke; mikemanley; Montu; yoseph

5-Ladder: Dvd Avins; Deden; Gaditus; Haimke; mikemanley; Montu; yoseph

For the ladder to function as a ladder, we'll need a minimum of 6 players for the 3er, 8 for the 4er, and 10 for the 5er. I'm guessing as the folks who spend most of their online time during the week check in, we'll get well more than that.
