Don't take my subject out of context, I love the site/games but my issue is I only have 1 peso, no land or animals, I can't harvest, I'm done but the opponent won't buy the 4 animal cards to end this suffering, so I suggest u put something in the game so that if someone is screwed, the game can end right then and there, or a CALL GAME button.

I'll post a little message on the game asking the other player to end it.

thank you kindly, I just think a Call Game button would avoid any of those future instances

How would this Call game button work? Would you just concede? Would the other player have to accept? If not you have people conceding games the first time something goes wrong. If you require the other player to accept, what if they decline? What happens if you concede in a 3+ player game? I'm not saying it's not a possibility, but all of these questions would need to be addressed.

Obviously in this case if the other player wanted to call the game, he/she could. To me it's a wonder that Hacienda games get in situations like this. The way I see it, if I know I can end the game and win, I want to end it as soon as possible. The goal of the game isn't to see how many points you can amass... it's to beat your opponents (oh, and have fun, too I think).

I'm not saying that it's the case in this instance, but dragging out a game where the outcome is clearly decided is just poor sportsmanship.

How about an option that you can choose the other people to have to concede? Obviously someone would have to test this option, but I am more than willing to handle that if need be! Twisted Evil

what are we doing here !!!

if every player who was in a bad game went to the message board
to complain-- this site would be crushed under an avalanche of
cry babies --

the other player is getting a bad rap here (by a newbie)
he has taken 3 turns today and yesterday --we like this kind of player
this is a standard scoring game --does the other player even know
bobs138127's score -- I think not
has the other player checked the gamelog --- I think not

did bobsi38127 post a message in the game asking the other
player to check the gamelog and end the game in the name of
good sportmanship NO -- he cried to the message board
and requested a fix to a problem that does not exist

has bobsi38127 posted a bogus BGG user name to his profile --YES

I cn address the question, sum1 would click the call game button and it would say in that blue box that is used to show the total score "waiting for other players to accept" then there would be an e-mail sent to each player saying "____ has requested to end the game _____, you can view the game at ________(the link)" then when they click it would say in that blue box "do you wish to call the game, with 2 options of yes or no", then when all players agree then the game is done and the final score is tallied, etc. if one player objects, then that player (who would probably end turn anyway, even if the game was the way it is) would forfeit that turn then the next player would play and so on, thats the best way I think the engine would work, cuz that scenario where sum1 can do aboslutely nothing is 1 and a million.

I didn't mean to cause a ruckuss. I'm fine with losing, beat me 100 times in a row, I'll learn from it and will wanna play that 101st time.I'm in an honest scenario where I have absolutely 100% no moves left, I'm beaten fair and square and I wanna move on instead of having to go back to the link and keep verifying my ended turn over and over, how would you feel if you were playing with a friend live and he/she kept playing and playing and you had to sit there and watch them play by themselves making 1,000s of points what fun is it for you?

ya i just had this happen to me...i had ZERO moves i could make but luckly my IRL friend bought down the animal pile quickly so the game could end...but it does seem odd that the game lets it get to this situation. it would be nice, esp in a 2 person game, that once someone CANT play anymore that the game would end. just my 2cts.

I disagree. What if that one person who can't play anymore is in the lead?

ok i didnt mean so taht the person who screwed up and left themselves w/ no pesos/no moves(which is waht i did) should win...the other person has the advantage to get ahead...but after a while of turn after turn of hitting "end turn" the game could easily just be over...

Maybe we'll look into the "Call Game" option.

how about a warning message or an option to redo your turn if what you've done will bring you down to $1.00. Another idea would be that if you do bring yourself down to zero it would skip your turn until the game is done...part of playing a game is to not put yourself in a situation like that so you can continue to play....just my 2 cents...

I agree 100%. Perhaps a warning message is the best way to go; you could combine that with skipping your turn. That would make it easy for the other(s) to end the game more quickly.

food for additional thought ---

I was in a game where I was unable to do anything for 4-5 turns
something the other player was not aware of

the other player ran down the animal deck and lost the game

so if you try to fix this problem be sure you do not create a new problem
