Anyone can create the game - use the exact name (eg 3-Season 8 Div 11 #03 - note please include the 0 as it means the games appear in order in the current games list) and put the players names in the comments section. (Opening two tabs and using cut/paste makes it easy to create games.) The password for all games is tournament.

All players have 5 games.

There are still games to finish from season seven. The points from those games will be carried over to this season, but (clearly) the divisions for season eight will not change as the draw has been made.

I intend to make the draw for season nine on the 8th October, so please try to make sure games are finished before then. As it is now easy to sit out a season, players who miss a long period on vacation and so slow down play may be suspended from future seasons.

To speed things up, please create the games which are not there when you come to join. Please also look out for the draw for future seasons

As an incentive to quick play and to give those who finish early something to compete in while they wait for the next season the first nine players to finish two games will be eligible for the 'season eight cup'. If two players reach two games finished at the same time it will be whoever finished their first game earlier. If still not broken it will be based on whoever finished lower in season seven.

The 'cup' will consist of three one game semi finals with the three winners (ties broken after pyramids and stones, by whoever has the province nearer the start of the alphabet after turn 6) going into a one game final.

The semi final draws will be random, but with the proviso that players from different divisions will be kept apart as far as possible.

I think it was rather unnecessary to keep me out of this season. I had to leave for work and didn't know that the new draw was ready. Sometimes I have work in places that doesn't have internett access. It's not my fault. I don't know if you have a job, but I have to do my job first and then play Amun-Re.

So, I think this was rather harsh and I hope we can start division 07 again with me in it. If not, I have to say that this is a really unfair treatment from your side.

Tzar_T, please think about what youre saying here. There are about 60 people in this Amun Re league. Whoever is the slowest player dictates the speed at which each season can play, all the rest of the players have to wait for the slowest player.

If 59 people have to wait for you, and after a week decide that they need to get it started and begin without you, you cant expect them to start over when youre ready. The unfair treatment here is that 59 people might have to wait while the schedule of the event is delayed.

I'm sorry I didnt PM you earlier with a reminder to join your games. I PMed you Friday after waiting a week, but then rseulow joined saturday before you saw it. Please don't attack Gaditus with "I don't know if you have a job, but I have to do my job first and then play Amun-Re". Gaditus has to do his job AND do all the organizational work to run three whole Amun Re leagues, which he kindly does for the benefit of all of us. Without him these leagues wouldnt exist.

I understand that its frustrating to be left out, but hopefully you'll understand why it was necessary for the league to continue.

Honestly, I don't see sitting out of one season as being a particularly harsh reaction to a player not joining their games in a prompt manner. Consider it from Gaditus' perspective. I'm assuming you didn't send him a PM warning him that you'd be out of town for a week or two and unable to join games. So, he's in the position of having to make the tough call of how long to wait to give you a fair chance to join - while not holding up the rest of the league. As someone who runs a different league, I can tell you that is a very unfun decision to have to make and it isn't fair to complain about the call he wound up having to make (which is basically an impossible call since no matter what you do, somebody's unhappy; he had no way of knowing you weren't gone for months - or even forever). Presumably, you're back in next season so I don't see the problem.

I haven't replied until now because I had to organise the 4 player draw (and decide whether to suspend players from that league). I have to say that the decision to suspend players is the worst part of running these leagues. However, now I have introduced a scoring system that allows players to sit out the odd season I feel less inclined to be lenient.

I get the impression that of the 70/80 players most are happy with the timescales applied, a few wish it were faster (a vociferous few!) and a lower number feel that it is difficult to keep up. I apologise to those in either of the unhappy camps.

I have indicated the future start and finish times for the various leagues (see above) so that players can decide whether to sit out or not and can be ready for the draw.

To Tzar-T, I would say that if you knew you would be away for 10 days within a six week league, you ought to have sat out the season anyway. Perhaps it is better to consider yourself lucky that I asked for a substitute rather than suspended you at the end of the season for not completing the games.
