We've had a few incidents this week. This will no doubt only increase. I thinkw e should nip it in the bud. Suggestions:

- New users can't start a new thread until they've joined a game;
- Some period of time has passed since registration before they can post;
- One of those "type the letters from this image" thing to stop the bots.

You get the idea.

You might want to check previous posts about this issue. The programming gods of this site have already made several steps at curbing this issue and seldom do we see the spamming happen. Although there have been a couple of innappropriate items, their present protection is working quite well. The general concensus in the past has been that their time be devoted to new games and bugs, not to policing the forums extensively.

How about a filter that compares numbers of posts to games played. I would be willing to bet that none of these bozo's (for lack of a better nomicker) has played a single game (in which case post's/games played > 100). Maybe simplistic but might help. Better if you make the conditional variable even less so that only people who play regularly able to post (conditional citizenship) Twisted Evil OOOhhhhh I like it!

The newest version of phpbb would fix the problem. It got rid of all the spam on the message board on my hubby's site.

Spam has started to become an issue again. Perhaps a few forum admins could be appointed? Their duties to nuke spam posts only and not try to moderate regular users?

Yes, I'm volunteering.

It's not a huge issue, is it? I'm seeing no more than a message or two a week.

But moderators would be fine, too.

A quick count shows 8 spams so far in April, with 2 in all of March - all in the Hacienda forum!
Given the number of tournaments running, it's far more likely that the spams get lost in the mass of tourney posts than the other way round Very Happy
The bigger problem may be that real cries for help get lost amongst the tourney posts... Question
I've only just spotted a 3-week-old post about umlauts that nobody replied to. I hope we didn't lose someone there...
