We're 16 now, so we can start. I'll randomize the pairings now.

What do we do when the game ends? Should we report the results here?

I'm monitoring the games. So, when all are finished, I'll make a post here. So far, 5 games are finished, 2 are almost through, one lags a bit behind - because of conflicting playing hours, not because of lack of will from what I gathered.

While I congratulate Fendwick for doing a great job and not losing a single match I must say that I was a bit surprised to read this. I guess I didn't understand the format we were using, but this seems an awful lot like single elimination with the exception of everyone continuing play for sport through the end of the tourney. After all... one loss meant that ultimately we were done with the possibility of winning the whole shebang.

Once again, congrats... I was just enjoying the competition and was sad to see that after 4 matches we're done.

I must agree I feel the same way. Is there any reason we don't just continue and play out the full round-robin? I'm in no hurry...

First, congratulations to Fendwick. A deserving winner!

Whilst I agree that a round-robin would be no problem, as we're not really constrained for time, this particular tournament was organised as a 4-round swiss. It would be unfair to change the rules at this point. Fendwick has won this one.

Now, if we want to go again, this time as a round-robin (or league format) count me in. Do the same 8 players want to run again?
As this is even easier to organise, I don't mind coordinating it Very Happy .

I just went to wikipedia and read about Swiss tourneys as I'll admit that I didn't fully understand what that meant. I was thinking it was going to be like World Cup Soccer where we play a qualifier round and then go into single elimination. I'm wrong.

However, it leaves me questioning as to what the originators of the Swiss Tourney system think they've accomplished vs. single elimination in so much as for determining an ultimate winner they are the same. However, that's not really a discussion for this board.

Good games all around for me and I certainly had fun playing and would enjoy participating in future tourneys. The one-on-one nature of the games has been quite different vs. the four players games I was used to.

If there is going to be another tournament, I am definitely in. I missed the one you guys just did and I had to wait until it is finished. So if you would please count me in for the next tournament if there is going to be one.
