The firewall protects data on the computer and the VPN protects data online. Purely technically, a VPN is a WAN network that offers security and functionality at the same level as a private network. There are two types of VPN connections: remote access when the computer connects to the network and the network to the network.
Working on a network without a VPN, you connect to the server of your Internet provider, which in turn connects you to the desired site. This means that all of your Internet traffic passes through the provider's, and the provider can accordingly monitor your traffic. When you connect through a VPN server, your traffic goes there through an encrypted tunnel. This means that only yours and the VPN server have access to your traffic. However, it is worth noting that there is a certain difference between privacy and anonymity. Using a VPN does not make you anonymous since your VPN knows perfectly who you are and can view data about your online activity. But the VPN provides you privacy when working on the network, in other words, your provider, teacher director, or even your government will not be able to follow you. To make sure that the VPN can really protect you, it is extremely important to choose a service that does not maintain user logs. And this is logical because if the VPN keeps a log of user actions, then the authorities can always demand that this data be transferred to them, and in this case your data will cease to be just yours. Nevertheless, even if the of your choice does not keep logs, it can still, if necessary, monitor your actions on the network in real time - for example, to fix technical problems. And although most non-logged VPN promise not to monitor your actions in real time in most countries, the law allows the relevant authorities to order the VPN to start logging the actions of a specific user without notifying him about this. However, there is no reason for concern here, well, only if you are not hiding from law enforcement agencies looking for you. |

Choosing a VPN service provider that will protect your privacy is a very important decision. Many virtual private networks have extensive user and traffic logs. It’s not scary if all you want is to be present on public networks and surf the Internet safely, but it can become a problem if you suspect the possibility of pressure from censors of a hacker attack or other cyber crimes that may seek to identify you or steal valuable information. |

I've never thought about security when working on the Internet before. but recently, when a neighbor's personal data was used by scammers, I thought about how to solve this problem. now I decide which service is better to choose paid or free. |

What to look for when choosing a VPN
If you are thinking about signing up for a VPN, make sure that the selected service provides the following:
high speed
strong encryption and high-quality security protocols
a trustworthy privacy policy
ability to access geo-blocked content
compatible with various devices and platforms
excellent user experience
reliable support service
good ratio between price and quality
High speed 可以使用的VPN
Using a VPN can slow down your Internet connection due to encryption and redirecting your data through a VPN server. With some VPNs, the difference in speed is barely noticeable, while others can cause a significant decrease in speed. In the latter case, the VPN will be of little use, so choose a service with unlimited bandwidth and a large number of fast servers. |

Most VPN clients also have additional functions, for example, allow you to switch between VPN protocols to select different ports and enable / disable additional functions, such as an emergency disconnect from the Internet. |
